Ditzingen, Germany – Over the next two years, PSA Peugeot Citroën will be equipping its production sites with additional, next-generation TruDisk disk lasers, according to an agreement announced recently with TRUMPF.
The French automaker has asked TRUMPF to supply the company with disk lasers in a range of output levels and beam qualities from its TruDisk series. PSA will now have quantities of TruDisk lasers numbering in the double digits for welding and soldering body components on its various models of cars.
PSA has used disk lasers for many years for the welding and soldering processes involved in auto body construction. The company awarded the order based on TruDisk's low operating and investment costs and its high degree of availability in production.
With sales totaling US $ 2.28 billion (€ 1.66 billion) and about 8,000 employees, the TRUMPF Group ranks among the leading manufacturing companies worldwide. Its core business is machine tools for flexible sheet metal processing for punching and forming, laser processing and bending. In the field of industrial lasers and laser systems, the company is the technological leader in the world market.
