Litron adds laser welders

Two new laser welding systems will help Litron keep pace with the demans of customers for laser welding of medical devices.

Litron Inc. (Agawam, MA)--a worldwide provider of custom laser systems and a supplier of contract manufacturing services to the aerospace, defense, and medical industries for applications in laser welding, hermetic sealing, and hi-reliability electronic packaging--has been acquiring machines and talent to keep pace with its growing client base and production requirements.

"We're willing to do what it takes, and make the necessary investments to meet the needs of our clients, and offer value added solutions." says Mark Plasse, president of Litron. "Whether that means hiring new personnel, adding on new equipment, or expanding our facilities, we'll do what's needed in order to grow with our customers."

The Laser Welding Department has added two Nd:YAG lasers. "With these lasers, we'll be able to offer our customers even faster lead times than our current industry leading standards." says Mike Chmura, head of Laser Welding. "These two lasers give us the ability to dedicate one whole system to prototyping, while using the other to reduce turn-around time. Along with increased production the lasers allows us to go down to a 0.006 in. spot size, which is ideal for the intricate laser welding of medical devices," says Chmura.

Litron's Electronic Package Fabrication department also invested in a new Haas 5-axis vertical machining center to keep pace with customer demands. "With the addition of this machine, we'll be able to significantly reduce setup times, and increase machining productivity," says John Griffin, head of Electronic Packaging. "Our customers will see shorter lead times,
shorter concept to realization on first part runs, and increased efficiency in overall machining."

Litron has brought on new hires from across the Massachusetts and Connecticut area for positions throughout the organization. "We're always looking for talented people who are ready to join a company that is poised to grow at an aggressive rate, while keeping quality and customers' needs at the forefront," says Plasse.

Founded in 1997, Litron, Inc. offers contract manufacturing services in laser welding, hermetic sealing, and electronic packaging.
