Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, England - Electrox Laser has launched its Cobra high-speed CO2 laser marker, which marks up to 2500 characters/s on line speeds of up to 300m/min for coding applications such as packaging and industrial goods. With no need for consumables such as ink, the laser reportedly reduces maintenance downtime, gives cleaner, more environmentally friendly results, and offers lower long-term cost of ownership.

As a result, the laser can handle a wide variety of code types, including Best Before or Use By codes, barcodes, and DataMatrix and QR codes, all of which can be programmed using the marker's ScribaFly software interface. Markable substrates for the laser include plastics (including PET), glass, and paper.

Available in 10 and 30W versions, the laser is also suitable for cutting, scoring, perforating, and slitting flexible film, foil, and other materials, in addition to coding and high-resolution marking.
