March 22--On March 30, the TRUMPF Laser Technology Center will recognize Frank DiPietro with a Laser Champion Award for his lifetime achievements in advancing the use of laser technology in industrial manufacturing.

For more than 45 years DiPietro was actively involved in automated systems, tooling, robotics, and laser systems for the General Motors Corporation's automotive operations. In 1992, he founded the Automotive Laser Application Workshop (ALAW) with the support of the University of Michigan. ALAW is now in its 14th consecutive year, and DiPietro continues as its chairman.

The TRUMPF Inc. Laser Technology Center will host the award presentation during an open house on March 30 (5:30 pm to 9:00 pm) to be held in conjunction with ALAW. The open house will include live machine demonstrations and will feature the North American premiere of TRUMPF's new TLC 1000 Powertrain System.
