Coherent product discontinuation
March 28--Coherent will discontinue the ExciStar S and ExciStar S-OEM and, in summer 2006, launch the ExciStar Pro, which will be the successor of the ExciStar S and which will fulfill the ROHS directive by the European Union.
March 28-- The ExciStar S was originally introduced as the smallest excimer laser available at Coherent. In summer 2006, Coherent will launch the ExciStar S Pro, which will be the successor of the ExciStar S and which will fulfill the ROHS directive by the European Union. Consequently, the ExciStar S as well as the ExciStar S-OEM for industrial customers will be discontinued.
The ExciStar S-OEM for medical customers will not be affected by this discontinuation due to the non-existing restrictive ROHS by the European Union for medical devices. This version remains part of the product range of Coherent further on.
The availability of the successor model ExciStar S Pro not earlier than summer 2006 results in the following dates for latest orders and shipments based on a standard delivery time of three months:
Latest possible order: 31st of March 2006
Latest possible shipment: 30th June 2006
After these dates Coherent will no longer accept any order or shipments respectively of the discontinued products.
Laser tubes, consumables, and spare parts will be available for general five years, starting with the last possible shipment. Spare parts and consumables availability therefore will end at 30th of June 2011.
No further upgrades for the discontinued laser products will be available, starting with the date of latest shipment 30th of June 2006.
All existing service contracts will be honored through their expiration date.
