LIA to recognize Achievement in Laser Safety Education award finalists
The award recognizes organizations and their laser safety program managers for dedicating significant time and resources.
The Laser Institute of America (LIA; Orlando, FL) will be awarding 10 nominees with the Achievement in Laser Safety Education (ALSE) Award at the International Laser Safety Conference (ILSC) set to take place March 18-21, 2019 in Kissimmee, FL.
The ALSE award recognizes organizations and their laser safety program managers for dedicating significant time and resources to laser safety, particularly commitment to a laser safety program, a trained Laser Safety Officer, and ongoing laser safety education.
The award's recipients are well known players in their respective industries—and world-renowned. Representing 10 different categories, this year’s awardees include Tesla (Automotive), Boeing (Aerospace), the United States Air Force (Defense), Mount Sinai (Healthcare Services), ConMed Corporation (Medical Devices), the Food and Drug Administration (Life Sciences), Sandia National Laboratories (Research and Development), Loughborough University (Academic and Public Sector), Qualcomm (Microelectronics), and FARO Technologies (Specialized Manufacturing and Services).
ALSE award finalists include NASA (Aerospace), Lockheed Martin (Defense), Ford (Automotive), Intel (Microelectronics), GlaxoSmithKline (Life Sciences), and Johns Hopkins University (Academic and Public Sector), among others. LIA applauds their efforts in contributing to laser safety.
The ALSE award recipients will attend the biannual ILSC conference on March 19th to receive their awards, as well as present the unique features, challenges, and achievements of their laser safety programs. Additionally, the David H. Sliney Award will be presented to one of the ALSE award recipients for laser safety excellence.
The four-day ILSC conference will include scientific sessions, Industry Business Panel Discussions & Presentations, and Practical Applications Seminars (PAS) that cover all aspects of laser safety practice and hazard control.
