Multiwave Photonics (Maia, Portugal) has closed its Series C financing round of €4 million (US $6M), through an all-equity event. The round was led by the new investor InovCapital, through its funds FCR InovCapital Valor and FCR InovCapital Valor 2, and was also participated by current investors FCR Espírito Santo Ventures II, a venture capital fund managed by Espírito Santo Ventures, part of Banco Espírito Santo Group, and GP Sidecar, a venture capital fund associated with the British investment banking firm GP Bullhound. Bullnet Capital, the Spanish venture capital firm that led the Series A round and further invested in the Series B round, continues as an investor in the company.

Proceeds from the round will support Multiwave's growth strategy and global market expansion plans to allow the company to become a leading provider of next generation pulsed fiber lasers based on a MOPA architecture and specialty optical sources based in fiberoptic technologies for industrial, environmental, and medical applications. The next generation fiber lasers offered by Multiwave allow customers to control its key operating parameters in unique ways, and this combination of performance and control provides a higher level of flexibility and value for the customer, to a degree that most currently available laser systems are unable to provide.
