GPI adds third EOS metal laser sintering machine
GPI Prototype & Manufacturing Services has added a third EOS direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) machine to expand its capabilities in metal rapid prototyping to include aluminum.
Lake Bluff, IL -GPI Prototype & Manufacturing Services has added a third direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) machine from Electro Optical Systems (EOS), to expand its capabilities in metal rapid prototyping to include aluminum.
DMLS enables manufacturing of complex geometries and shapes not possible with CNC machining, and the ability to integrate informal cooling channels into designs to dramatically reduce injection molding cycle/lead times and lower costs.
GPI's services currently span six material choices for DMLS: stainless steel (GP1 & PH1), Titanium (Ti64), cobalt chrome (MP1), maraging steel (MS1), and nickel alloy (IN718). With the addition of the new EOSINT M 270 tool, the firm will dedicate its existing M 280 tool to aluminum parts in the next month. GPI obtained that M 280 tool about a year ago, joining another M 270 system.
The firm also offers other laser material processing services, including stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), and fused deposition modeling (FDM).
