Keyence, Itasca, IL, has developed a new 3D laser scanner offering "an unprecedented range" of scan area, repeatability, and onboard measurement tools.

The LJ-V7000 Series is the industry's first to incorporate next-generation HSE3 CMOS receivers, imaging sensors that enable an unmatched profile sampling rate (64 kHz) with 12.8 MHz point sampling rate -- keeping up with the fastest production lines while still providing high-resolution 100% inspection. The system also can acquire data from surfaces with widely varying reflectivity, in a safe Class II blue laser system. A wide range of heads provide scan areas as wide as 9.45 inches (240 mm) and Z-axis repeatability as high as 0.4 μm.

The profile acquisition system has been redesigned to include a wide array of communication options: traditional USB and RS-232 outputs, a dedicated TCP/IP Ethernet interface at full acquisition speeds, and (with an included software development kit), integrating with a third party post-processing system. To support high speed PLC interfaces, an Ethernet/IP communications option is available. The LJ-V7000 also can provide analog data or judgment outputs using onboard 2D and 3D data processing capability, which allows the LJ-V7000 to act as a standalone part evaluation system.
