Congressman supports photonics in article
Florida congressman John Mica was so engaged by the LIA's efforts to support the future of photonics that he wrote an article about it.
Congressman John Mica (R-FL) was familiarized with the Laser Institute of America (LIA)'s efforts in regard to the National Photonics Initiative at a meeting in Orlando on August 7 at UCF-CREOL, the University of Central Florida's College of Optics and Photonics. The LIA’s Executive Director, Peter Baker, did a great job representing laser advanced manufacturing.
After Baker spoke, the congressman asked many questions. He was really engaged, so much so that on August 20, Mica wrote the attached article "Let's be laser focused on photonics for the future" for the local newspaper. This article is reprinted with the permission of the Orlando Sentinel.
