I have read your editorial, “Extra, extra, read all about it, recovery”, in the ILS March/April edition with interest and appreciation. Thank you for your continued good work.
I am seeing the same things happening in the media, but I think the cause is different than anything we have seen before. Publications have been following business ups and downs since the invention of the printing press. This factory closed, those jobs lost, etc. What makes this recession different is that this time around, it is their ox being gored. Their friends are getting laid off, their profit margins are disappearing, they might even be afraid of losing their own jobs. I think this has added a real sense of doom and gloom in the media coverage that we are seeing.
I must say it is mildly entertaining to watch how people are reacting now that it is more than just a story written and forgotten. This is what the brave new world has been like for many years in manufacturing.
Keep up the good work.
