The LASERDYNE 811 fiber laser system from Prima Power Laserdyne (Brooklyn Park, MN) addresses the next generation of laser processing challenges, including additive manufacturing, and offers high-speed welding, drilling, and cutting capabilities.

The system's working envelope is 1100 × 800 × 600 mm for the X, Y, and Z axes, respectively. Each axis has >50 m/sec velocity and acceleration of 1.2 g, and is optimized for floor space efficiency for the work envelope.

The machine's BeamDirector processing head offers two additional two axes of motion (C and D) to provide access to hard-to-reach places in the workpiece, precise beam placement, and good flexibility in a five-axis laser system. The processing head has 90 rpm rotational speed and control repeatability of 15 arcsec. It also supports laser processing from 90° (normal to the surface) to 10° off the surface of a part all the way along the axis of travel.

The system's S94P controller provides real-time pulse-by-pulse control, including a unique shape for each individual laser pulse, and supports seven axes of simultaneous motion and additional axis as required by automation. The system supports Windows Version 10, including the full suite of SmartTechniques to optimize the laser process, shorten cycle times, and improve the process quality and consistency.
