Laser Research Optics fused-silica fiber lenses work with high-power lasers

This line of fused-silica fiber lenses eliminates the need for users to send their laser heads back to the OEM for lens replacement.

A line of fused-silica fiber lenses from Laser Research Optics (Providence, RI) eliminates the need for sending fiber laser heads back to the OEM for lens replacement. The lenses are offered in 1.5- and 2-in.-diameter sizes with antireflective coatings on both sides to provide transmission of >99.5% at 1.06 µm with >80% at 650–670 nm. They have utility as debris shields on 400 kW or higher power lasers, and offer a 10-5 scratch-dig finish and quarter-wave transmitted wavefront.
