March 23--Proventia Automation has signed an agreement to deliver a laser cutting line for recycling TVs and monitors to WeeRec in Estonia.

WeeRec is making a major investment in electronics recycling, and the laser cutting line for TVs and monitors is the first phase of this investment. WeeRec is investing in "best-available-technology" to be able to service a major part of the Estonian and Baltic market according to the requirements of the EU's WEEE electronics recycling directive and the recycled glass requirements of CRT manufacturers. Proventia's laser cutting line will provide significant high-quality capacity to WeeRec to meet these demands.

The CRT recycling equipment delivered by Proventia Automation uses a carbon dioxide laser to cut the CRT in two parts, in order to separate the lead-containing funnel glass from the leadless panel glass. The separation process has to have high accuracy to keep the lead glass from contaminating the panel glass, so that a maximum amount of the glass can be reused in CRT manufacturing. In addition to the high-quality separation and high capacity, the laser technology also has superior health and environmental performance.
