Oxford, MA -IPG Photonics has appointed Veeco Instruments CEO John R. Peeler to its board of directors, and to its compensation committee. His addition expands the board to 10 members until the 2013 annual meeting, at which point the company says director William F. Krupke will not stand for reelection, after 12 years of service.
"The addition of John will further diversify the outstanding talents and wide-range of experience of our current board," stated Valentin Gapontsev, IPG founder and CEO. "John has deep experience in managing high-growth technology companies and a wealth of knowledge about the service needs of customers in demanding markets, including semiconductor capital equipment. We look forward to working with John as we continue to expand the presence of our products and technology around the world."
Peeler joined Veeco in 2007 and was named chairman in 2012. He formerly was president of TTC, which evolved into Acterna and was acquired by JDSU in 2005.
IPG recently added a new Veeco system (its fourth) to expand production of GaAs-based lasers.
