Colorado Springs, CO - Stencils and tooling provider Photo Stencil has acquired a third laser cutting system for its Guadalajara, Mexico facility. The Tannlin TX with automatic optical inspection will reportedly increase stencil production capacity and capabilities for the facility, which produces laser and NiCut stencils for the semiconductor packaging, printed circuit board (PCB), and solar industries.

The new stencil cutting system simultaneously cuts and provides full inspection for the presence of apertures and for the quality of every aperture cut, obtaining data directly from the Gerber file.

Francisco Lujano, general manager for Photo Stencil Mexico, says that the company has seen increased demand for its electroformed, NiCut, and laser-cut stencils, so adding the third system is part of a strategic plan to drive technology and grow capacity and capability.

The company acquired the Guadalajara facility in 1998, which provides sales, engineering, application support, templates, and manufacturing services. The facility has a dedicated CAD department that is focused on design optimization and support to regional customers.
