Champlin, MN - Prima Power Laserdyne will signifcantly boost production of its LASERDYNE 430BD laser systems, which perform cutting, welding, and drilling of 2D and 3D component parts, in 2015. Recent sales of the system and demand generated at the IMTS and EuroBLECH exhibitions over the past two months led to the decision.

The six-axis system offers options with multiple configurations for processing parts in various market segments requiring manufacturing flexibility, rapid prototyping, and quick changeovers.

Mark Barry, VP of sales and marketing for the company, says that at IMTS and EuroBLECH, the system drew serious interest from manufacturers of medical devices, surgical instruments, automotive components, precision mechanical components, electronics, and drawn, thermoformed, punched, and traditionally stamped parts, as well as aerospace component manufacturers. The system processes materials ranging from nickel alloys and stainless steel to aluminum, copper, and titanium. Key technical features for the system include a small focused beam diameter, high beam quality, and system responsiveness, Barry adds.

The six-axis LASERDYNE 430BD Series laser system with the company's third-generation BeamDirector performs cutting, welding, and drilling of 2D and 3D components with a quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) fiber laser that delivers up to 20kW of power.

The system operates at speeds up to 800 in./min in the x, y, and z axes with bi-directional accuracy of 0.0005 in. (12.7µm). A 585 × 408 × 508 mm work envelope allows laser processing of a broad range of workpiece sizes and thick and thin metals.
