Surat, India – Synova and Sahajanand Technologies (P) Ltd. (STPL) have entered into a worldwide exclusive collaboration for a new technology for diamond cutting. Synova is a provider of innovative laser cutting systems for a broad range of micromachining and dicing applications. Sahajanand Technologies designs, researches, develops, and manufactures gemstone processing machineries, industrial automation systems, and vision-based machineries for inspection and measurement.

Extending its portfolio of water jet-guided laser technology, Synova, Ecublens, Switzerland, has introduced a proprietary Laser MicroJet® (LMJ) to meet demanding manufacturing specifications and low cost-of-ownership requirements associated with high-volume production of today's advanced electronic and micromechanical devices.

LMJ technology delivers cutting quality unmatched by conventional techniques, enabling device manufacturers to process advanced materials without subjecting them to heat damage, contamination, and deformation. Laser sawing technology has progressed over time from its beginnings as blade sawing technology to its second generation technology of lamp-based technology, to IR diode-based technology, and finally to green diode based technology as the fourth generation. The connection between the two entities introduces the 5th generation technology for diamond cutting.

"The most important factor of this Laser Microjet® technology is the collimated laser spot, which eliminates the possibilities of PUNCTURE & KHAJURA," noted Dr. Bernold Richerzhagen, president and CEO Synova SA.

The straight cut laser sawing minimizes the utmost loss in diamond and enhances the value to the same diamond. "Moreover, due to the straightcut laser sawing, pointers and cut-grade cannot be missed as in the case of V-cut laser sawing, which adds a true 'value-addition' in polished diamond," added Mr. Prakash Rakholia, marketing director of Sahajanand Technologies.

"Our endeavor is to bestow a revolutionary product to diamond manufacturers. The combined efforts from both these companies will bring a true value addition in diamonds and will provide the competitive edge to the diamond industry, which will help meet the technological demands of the rapidly growing diamond industry," said Mr. Dhirajlal Kotadia, chairman of Sahajanand Technologies.

"This relationship will enable us to solidify our mission and will strengthen Synova's & STPL's position as the provider of innovative laser cutting systems for the diamond industry," added Richerzhagen.
