Laird (London, England) has developed the UltraTEC Series thermoelectric module (TEM) with a heat-pumping capacity up to 340W, which has use in larger cooling applications with limited surface area, such as industrial lasers for cutting, welding, micromachining, additive manufacturing, and drilling. The TEM provides precise temperature control to within ±0.01°C under steady state condition, does not produce noise or vibration, and is available in multiple configurations. It is assembled with bismuth telluride semiconductor material and thermally conductive aluminum oxide ceramics, and has an operating temperature up to 80°C.
