Field-replaceable CO2 optics from Laser Research Optics (Providence, RI) have utility with lasers that cut composites in making precision gaskets where smooth edge definition is required. The line includes zinc-selenide (ZnSe) lenses and mirrors, which are optimized for use at 10.6µm. The lenses are offered in 1–1.5in. OD sizes with 1–12in. focal lengths, and are available with dual-band antireflective coatings to aid in system alignment.
