MALTON, ENGLAND—Full-service sheet metalwork manufacturer Malton Laser has used laser cutting technology to manufacture components that make up adjustable and reusable access ramps and steps for Access Solutions Limited (Cumbernauld, Glasgow, Scotland). The modular access systems specialist has worked with Malton Laser since 2003, most recently calling on that company’s expert engineers to produce parts for a series of adjustable steps used by several portable building companies nationwide (FIGURE).

Access Solutions Limited worked with Malton Laser to produce laser-cut parts for a series of adjustable steps.

Access Solutions provides a host of permanent and temporary access options, from modular concrete ramps and steps to embankment steps, concrete walkways, and modular concrete platforms. All these modular systems have the strength and stability comparable to a permanent structure, while incorporating all the advantages of being modular.

Malton Laser used its laser cutting equipment to precision-cut a series of stainless steel parts that make up the stringers on the modular, adaptable steps. These parts are then pressed into shape to guarantee that the step systems will move smoothly to cater to different access needs, while boasting the strength and structure of a permanent fixture.

“Malton Laser is an exceptional company to work with—the team offers unrivaled levels of first-class customer service, along with producing quality work time after time,” says Helen Owen, director at Access Solutions Limited. “The engineers are highly skilled and always go the extra mile—there have been many occasions where we’ve needed parts or components at short notice, but the Malton Laser team always go above and beyond to ensure our requirements are met.”

Charles Corner, managing director of Malton Laser, said: “To have worked with Access Solutions Limited for more than 14 years is a testament to our customer service and value for money, as well as the industry-leading services we offer thanks to our innovative machinery and equipment used across all projects. Our engineers work very hard to ensure that each component produced for the company’s modular access systems is manufactured to stringent a specification, guaranteeing ease-of-use for the end user.”

Malton Laser specializes in providing full sheet metalwork services, from laser cutting and pressing to fabricating, powder coating, and assembly. They use some of the most technologically advanced equipment available, including a 6 kW Bystronic ByStar Fiber laser, to offer customers the most efficient and cost-effective laser cutting processes in the industry. The company services clients in several sectors across the UK, including food and drink, automotive and transport, architectural and construction, retail, energy, and engineering.
