The new laser micromachining facility is equipped with the company’s glass processing laser and metrology systems.

ALSDORF, GERMANY – Laser glass processing specialist 4JET microtech, a spinoff of sister company 4JET Technologies, has opened up a new facility for precision processing of glass, thin films, and electronic components. Located in Prutting near Rosenheim in the south of Germany, the new facility is equipped with the company’s glass processing laser and metrology systems.

The company has been offering services for laser cutting, drilling, thin-film patterning, and part marking using its portfolio of precision laser processing machines since 2016. In the company’s Alsdorf facility, a team of engineers and physicists develops laser processes and integrated manufacturing tools for industrial applications.

These PearlCut-processed glass cover lenses for smartphone cameras are an example of a job shop order.

This dedicated facility now expands the company’s capacity and service level. MicroFab is a dedicated service provider for freeform glass cutting services utilizing the company’s kerf-free PearlCut process (FIGURE). The company also offers large-format ITO patterning services, as well as via drilling for glass substrates.

Processed parts can be qualified in the metrology lab using light microscopy, surface analytics, and bending test. The company’s service offering includes 100% test, cleaning, packaging, and shipping.
