Laser Research Optics introduces line of laser lenses for steel cutting

Feb. 17, 2020
A line of zinc selenide laser focusing lenses is available in focal lengths from 3 to 10 in. in 0.5-in. increments for 200 W to 4 kW carbon-dioxide cutting lasers used to process heavy steel plate.

A line of zinc selenide (ZnSe) laser focusing lenses from Laser Research Optics (Providence, RI) is available in focal lengths from 3 to 10 in. in 0.5-in. increments for 200 W to 4 kW CO2 cutting lasers used to process heavy steel plate. The lenses are offered with the company's Cool-Cut coating, which absorbs <0.15% of laser energy to protect against heat damage, or with standard antireflection coatings to provide <0.2% total absorption. Optimized for 10.6 µm, the lenses are offered in 12 in. OD sizes with thicknesses ranging from 0.250 to 0.380 in. They come in plano-convex and -meniscus configurations and can be supplied plain or mounted.
