The Laser Marking Tech Group is the first of the SME's Industrial Laser Community (ILC) tech groups (which also include tech groups for laser cutting laser drilling, surface treatment, and laser welding) to offer a live web page.

Chaired by Dale Sabo (vice president of sales and marketing for Scanlab America), the group's mission is to provide practical information on laser marking. The site provides a basic understanding of the advantages, processes, components, and resources available for laser marking of products. The information is provided for users that have an interest in enhancing productivity by applying laser technology.

The groups' corporate sponsors include Aerotech, GSI Group, JDS Uniphase, Rocky Mountain Instrument, Scanlab, SPI Lasers, Telesis Technologies, TRUMPF, and Virtek.
