Alcon launches Santec SS-OCT biometer for cataract measurements

Aug. 4, 2020
The system incorporates Santec’s SS-OCT technology and is used to measure key parameters of the eye, including axial length, prior to cataract surgery.

Santec (Komaki, Japan), which manufactures advanced optical components, tunable lasers, optical test equipment, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems, has launched, through Alcon Japan (Tokyo, Japan), its ARGOS Ver.1.5 swept-source OCT (SS-OCT) biometer.

The ARGOS system, sold under the brand MOVU, incorporates Santec’s SS-OCT technology and is used to measure key parameters of the eye, including axial length, prior to cataract surgery.

The system integrates the biometric and surgical planning functions of Alcon's VERION cataract surgery guide system, and was released in Japan on August 3, 2020.

Under a global strategic alliance between the two companies, Alcon is the worldwide exclusive distributor of the ARGOS Ver.1.5 system.
