More powerful laser/robot

Obernburg, Germany — The new RV16l-CO2 laser robot, from Reis Robotics, proves to be the perfect transport for the compact diffusion-cooled TCF 1 CO2 laser recently introduced by TRUMPF.

Unlike a standard CO2 laser, the 2 kW TCF 1 is mounted laterally onto the upper arm of the robot. In this location, close to the robot base, it is possible to move a larger and heavier laser head, up to 400 kg, without interfering with the available work envelope.

Only four mirrors are required to deliver a multi-kilowatt beam from the laser to the focus head, with a constant beam aperture of 35 mm. A beam quality, k, of 0.9 assures that maximum processing speeds in most material will be achieved.
