Laser-cutting a Halloween classic

Rugby, UK - To celebrate the spooky season (and show its laser cutting capabilities), JK Lasers has laser-cut its own version of the traditional Halloween pumpkin using its JK400FL 400W single-mode fiber laser.

The 17 cm sphere of 0.5 mm stainless steel was cut using a robot with a height sensing head to follow the 3D design. The company notes that this material can be 2D-processed at speeds of up to 20 m/min, but 3D cutting is slower due to the robotic equipment limitations and more complex shapes. Here's a short video of the steel-pumpkin laser cutting in action.

JK Lasers actively shows off its laser material processing capabilities with holiday-themed examples. Recent projects include the US flag (4th of July), an Easter egg, and a dragon for the Chinese New Year.
