Fiber-coupled module for laser materials processing

08/17/2012

DILAS Diode Laser Inc., Tucson, AZ, has released a 105 μm fiber-coupled module, with output at 793 nm wavelength for applications including fiber laser pumping and laser micromaterials processing.

The 90 × 31 × 20 mm module is based on diode laser bars, which delivers 32 W at 793 nm wavelength with numerical aperture (NA)_of <0.22. It offers >40% wall plug efficiency at operating current, and typically operates at <60A of current with compliance voltage of 1.8V. Standard wavelength tolerances are +/-3nm with spectral widths less than 5nm.

At the 793 nm wavelength, the fiber-coupled module is ideal for pumping thulium-doped fiber lasers and amplifiers, used in eye-safe applications, as well as emerging medical applications and remote sensing. The product also is offered at higher outputs and wavelengths: 35 W at 808 nm, and 40 W at 976 nm.
