Nutfield Technology, Hudson, NH, has simplified the software interface for its 3XB Series 3-axis scan heads, used in 2D and 3D laser scanning applications. The new interface allows for creation of a scan field that matches the shape of the target surface, making it ideal for precise 3D marking and engraving on curved, contoured surfaces or an array of parts at no additional costs, compared to the company's standard 3XB with Waverunner software.

Nutfield's 3XB Series 3-axis scan heads are used for optical scanning in X/Y and X/Y/Z applications where spot sizes as small as 5µm or scan fields as large as 2 x 2 m are desired.

Applications for the 3XB with new software include complex shapes: cylinders, spheres, array, stepped surfaces, or tilted planes, curved surfaces, and large fields and small spots.

Industries include: jewelry, manifolds, castings, injection molding, and plastic and metal welding.
