• 11/18/2011 -- Innovation Award for additive manufacturing goes to Fraunhofer ILT scientists
  Aachen, Germany – The state of North Rhine-Westphalia’s 2011 Innovation Award in the "Innovation" category has been awarded to five laser experts at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT.

  Aachen, Germany – Up until now, it was not possible to use selective laser melting (SLM) on copper alloys. Now, however, research scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) here have solved the technical problems that prevented this by enhancing the technique.
